Getting Started
ElecParts uses a central account to give you access to one or more labs. A lab is a workspace for a team’s parts, inventory, projects, builds, and purchasing. Your account profile and password are shared across labs; each lab has its own App Settings and data.
Sign in and open a lab
Use your email and password on the ElecParts sign-in page. If registration is open, choose Get started to create an account, then follow the verification link sent to your email. ElecParts prepares an initial lab after verification and takes you into it when it is ready. You can also continue with Google when Google sign-in is configured for your ElecParts service.
When you sign in, ElecParts opens your only accessible lab automatically. If you have access to more than one, choose from the Owner Labs and Member Labs lists. If no lab is available, the page offers Create New Lab or you can ask an existing lab owner to invite you.
For account details and lab switching, see Account. For the difference between account settings and settings for the current lab, see App Settings.
Find your way around a lab
The main navigation links to:
- Dashboard — a summary of lab activity and key counts. Owners and Admins may also see an activity list when that feature is enabled. A first-use guide can offer a tour of the main areas.
- Parts — the shared catalog of components.
- Inventory — stock, storage Locations, and inventory drafts. This link appears when your role allows you to view inventory or Locations.
- Projects — product or design records, their BOMs, and Builds.
- Purchasing — purchase requests, sourcing, lists, receiving, and supported supplier document imports. This link appears when your role can view Purchasing.
Your role affects which actions appear within a module. Ask the lab Owner or an Admin if you need access to an action.
A possible first workflow
You can work in the order that suits your team. One useful starting sequence is:
- Add or review Categories and Suppliers if the defaults do not fit your catalog.
- Create Parts for the components you use.
- Set up Inventory Locations such as drawers, bins, or shelves.
- Add inventory and record where it is stored.
- Create a Project and add its BOM items.
- Use Builds to plan or record assembly, and Purchasing when more parts are needed.
For a catalog-specific way to group Projects, add project BOM Templates before importing CSV files.
